Your Life and Your Health Part 4

Hi,

Part 4 of your life and your health is here.

Last post we left off with needing to take the first step to make some changes in your life. 

If you are in a downward spiral or already at the bottom, then you need to make some changes. 

Many people that get to this point try to make drastic changes.  But, as we have seen this pretty much guarantees failure.

So what can you do?  You acknowledge the change is necessary.  You see yourself at the peak level you want to be at.

Sometimes that is hard, if you are in a really low place.  So visualize yourself being a little bit better. 

That is your first step.

That is the easy part.

Now comes the hard part.  You have to figure out how to get to that little bit better place.  Then you have to take the next steps to get there.

Since this is a health, diet and fitness blog, let’s use an example.

Say you are 100 pounds overweight and you haven’t exercised in years.

Finally, you say, enough is enough.   You decide you want to have the body of a gymnast.

If you can really see yourself doing that, then that is fantasic. 

If you can’t really see yourself as having the body of a gymnast – or really believe it, then you have to start with a smaller step.

See yourself as having lost 5 pounds.  That is all.  Start small and your body, mind and spirit will accept that yes this is something you can do.

That is your first step.

And remember it is the easiest step.  Now you have to figure out how to lose those five pounds. 

There are many ways to do this, but for our example, let’s just say you drop your calories by 50 a day and you walk for 5 minutes every day.

Those could be steps 2 and 3.  Still pretty simple.  But, as we saw in the last post, eventually your body will rebel and you won’t be able to lose the weight so easily, if at all.

Now what?  By now you are on steps 20 or 30 and things aren’t going so well.  And, guess what, life has a habit of maiking itself known and throwing a monkey wrench in your plans.

Maybe, it is a holiday with feasting, or a wedding with feasting, or a vacation with feasting, or just a simple office pot luck with lots of feasting.  You get the idea.

Anyone of those things can throw off your losing weight plans.  This is when the steps get the hardest and when many people just give up. 

Besides the life getting in the way, which happens to everyone just about everyday, many people don’t know what to do to get over the hump. 

You can only reduce your calories so much.  You can only exercise so many minutes a day. 

Just trying to use sheer willpower, doesn’t work.  Why bang your head on a brick wall until you break – because that is the more likely scenario.

Now it doesn’t matter what problem you are having.  Whether it is a bad diet, a bad job or a bad relationship. 

The attempt to solve the problem starts with you and your first step.  When you hit the inevitable hump, you need something.  And that something is the same whether it is a health solution, a job choice solution or a relationship solution.

    Can I just say what a relief to find someone who definitely knows what theyre talking about over a internet. You actually know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. Much more folks have to read this and realize this side on the story. I cant believe youre not far more well-known mainly because you actually have the gift.
